Different Types of Electric Locomotive Parts

There are various types of Electric Locomotive Parts. Some of which include the pantograph, emergency brake, coupler, etc. Some of the parts are discussed below-

Pantograph

The electric currents are collected with the help of the devices known as pantographs and the current collected is used for powering an EMU or electric locomotive unit. The pantographs are employed to make connections with the cable or the electrified overhead wire.
Pantographs are found in various sizes and shapes which depend upon the factors like power requirements, speed of the train set or locomotive, systems used for power supply etc. The main parts of the pantograph include the upper arm which is attached to the head or pan collector, pivot against roof which is attached the upper arm of the locomotive or the carriage and the lower arm which attached to the pivot.  The wire pick up is touched by the head of the pantograph. The head consists of metalized carbon strip which helps in collecting the current.

Emergency Brakes

The special brakes which are mainly found in electric or diesel locomotives are known as emergency brakes. When an emergency occurs the emergency brake is used for stopping the leading locomotive as well as the entire train. Emergency brakes used in electric locomotives are pedals and these used in diesel or steam locomotives are present as handles.

Air pressure of large amounts is applied on emergency brakes to revert from train brakes, dynamic brakes or lap brakes which are situated inside an average locomotive. When these emergency brakes are applied through the emergency valves the air pressure travels simultaneously.

Some of the Electric Locomotive Spares include the electrical switchgear, LED indication panel, relay panel, resister unit etc. Electrical switchgear are combinations of circuit breakers or fuses and electrical disconnect switches which are used for isolating, protecting and controlling electrical equipments. Electrical switchgear are used to clear the faults downstream and also to de energize the equipments so that the work is allowed to be carried out. The equipments which use switch gears are directly connected or linked with the electric supply for reliability.

There are many types of Diesel Engine Locomotive Parts. Some of which include turbo charger, crankshaft, cylinder etc. The shafts which are used for connecting the pistons of a diesel locomotive?s engine are known as crankshafts. Connecting rods are used by the crankshafts to operate the pistons which help in transferring the power to the remaining parts of the drive line like the gear boxes, electric generator, drive shafts, etc.

All types of Electric Locomotive Parts are available online. Persons or organizations interested in these parts can directly contact the manufacturers in their official websites.

Know More About the Optical Brightener

There are many things in the world that require a profound understanding in order to be used properly. Optical Brightener is one such thing that users should understand properly if they have to make the best out of it. These brighteners have certain fluorescence properties that allow them to emit the absorbed light, thus making them appear brighter than the surroundings. These brighteners are widely used in a number of products but the main uses remain confined in laundry detergents. It is to be kept in mind that these products are to be used in the right proportion in order to get the desired result and so there is always a necessity to take the help of professional experts whenever there is a need to use these products.
How it works

Optical Brightening Agents strongly absorb light in the ultraviolet region and also re-emit most of the energy as visible light, however, energy of the light emitted is much lower than the energy of the light absorbed and so the light does not seem to be as bright as the original source. Strongest fluorescence is found to occur with the help of pi-bonded electrons, though sigmabonds in a large number of organic compounds are also found to facilitate fluorescence. However all brightening agents are found to have a considerable number of conjugated double bonds.

Various Uses of Optical Brightener

The commonest use of fluorescent whitening agent is found in detergents that are used to impart cleanliness and brightness in clothes, especially in white clothes. These agents have largely replaced conventional bluing technique as the latter tends to leave spots on clothes. These brighteners are also used in the production of ultra-white papers thus making it absolutely a household item. Papers containing these agents appear brighter under ultra-violet illumination due to the fluorescent property imparted by these agents. However, it has been reported that these agents may cause some health complications including allergic infections in some and so it is better to maintain caution while coming in contact with these products.
Over the last few years there have been enormous developments in this sector and these agents can be used more easily than ever before. Optical Whitening Agents manufacturers specialize in the production of different kinds of agents and so users can take the opportunity to choose from various options. However, as each type of product is designed to serve a specific purpose it is better to contact a trained professional prior to making a purchase.

Different Types of Railway Track Components

When it comes to conquering distances trains are still the most reliable medium for most of the people on earth. Though aeroplanes have fast emerged to be the main transport vehicles for transcontinental journeys, trains are still the most reliable pieces when it comes to a journey on ground. In fact, railways play a very important role in the development of both agriculture and industry in the developing national like India and China. As a result, when it comes to choosing components for passenger or freight trains, there is no room for compromising with the quality of the products. There are different types of Railway Components and so buyers have to be very careful while making a choice.

Axle
Axle forms one of the most important parts of Railway Components. The central shaft that joins to parallel wheels under a compartment, so that both the wheels can rotate simultaneously, is known as axle.

Though the basic structure of the axle remains that same, they can be modified according to the nature of the trains and their speed. Axles are specially designed to make the rotation of the wheel smoother and hassle free. High quality iron is used to manufacture this product.

Brake Shoe

The brake shoe is fitted with the main driving wheels in order to allow the train to stop smoothly. Without brake shoes the braking system would not work properly and chances are that the braking mechanism would break away when applied on emergency basis.
The shoes grip on the wheels gently and also act as scrubbers that help keep the wheels clean. Mostly cast iron is used to manufacture these components.

Leaf Spring
The Leaf Spring is the main suspension mechanism for trains. Specially designed for heavy vehicles, these springs are a must for locomotives.

Each driver wheel is fitted with a leaf spring so that the passengers or the products contained in the compartments do not feel the jerks resulting from fast movement.
Railway components are important industrial equipments and so clients have to be very careful while choosing any one. Though it is possible to buy these products online, it is always advisable that clients should contact the manufacturer is person prior to making a choice. It is to be kept in mind that most of the manufacturers have their own websites and so clients can go through the websites in order to know more about the products that they offer.
